Singapore Puxian (Hinghwa) Network Attends Persatuan Shing An Selangor & Kuala Lumpur’s 90th Anniversary Celebration

Showcasing the Bond of the Global Hinghwa Community

Persatuan Shing An Selangor and Kuala Lumpur marked its 90th anniversary with a grand three-day celebration in Kuala Lumpur from August 22 to 24. Representatives from the Singapore Puxian (Hinghwa) Network joined the festivities, which featured a commemorative gala dinner, the Shing An Youth Federation and Women’s Federation meetings, as well as the 56th National Congress of the Shing An Federation of Malaysia. The event drew a spirited turnout and lively exchanges.

From Singapore, representatives from the Hsing Ann Association, Hsing Ann Tian Hou Gong, Hock Poon Kooi Kun (Kou Ping), and the Putian Association were also present. Delegations came from across the region and beyond, including Jakarta Hsing Ann Association, Surabaya Hokpo Association, Sien-Ke General Association, Sek Chiang Hsing Ann Foundation, Sien You Charity Association, as well as the Australia Mazu Association and Putian Chamber of Commerce. Together, they reflected the strong ties that continue to unite Hinghwa communities worldwide.

Many participants highlighted how such gatherings reveal the community’s strength in youth engagement and cultural heritage. They expressed hopes of deepening collaboration across associations to preserve and pass on their shared traditions.

On behalf of the Singapore Puxian (Hinghwa) Network, Vice-President Alex Lee  presented a calligraphic scroll inscribed with the words “Together as One” to Persatuan Shing An Selangor & Kuala Lumpur, President Dato’ Choo Kim Boon, symbolizing unity and a shared commitment to cultural preservation.Separately, Ng Wan Yun, Assistant General Secretary of the Putian Association (Singapore), presented another scroll inscribed with “Unity and Prosperity, Building a Bright Future Together” to President Choo, a gesture underscoring the spirit of partnership and mutual growth between the two associations.

The celebrations culminated in a group photo, capturing the joyous atmosphere and camaraderie among participants.
Founded in 1935, the Persatuan Shing An Selangor & Kuala Lumpur has journeyed through nine decades of service to its community. Organizers emphasized that the 90th anniversary was not only a milestone of history but also a platform for strengthening cross-border Hinghwa solidarity while laying the foundation for youth development, women’s participation, and cultural continuity.
